In Short

An LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) connection is a necessity in every household. When people move to a new house or city, they are required to transfer their LPG connection as well.

All the gas providers in the country allow their customers to avail the facility of connection transfer. A transfer can be made from one address to another, to another city or to a new gas provider.

The procedure for this is simple and common to all the three LPG companies -- Bharatgas, HP Gas and Indane Gas.

Steps to follow in case the transfer is within the city:

Step 1: The customer will have to get an e-Customer Transfer Advise (e-CTA) issued from the existing distributor i.e. authorisation code on the production of a Subscription Voucher (SV). The validity of e-CTA is 3 months from the date of issue.

Step 2: The voucher should then be produced in front of the new distributor of the same gas agency, who will enroll the customer.

Note: The Subscription Voucher (SV) is an important document and should be retained safely.

Procedure to follow in case the transfer is to another city:

Step 1: The gas distributor in the current city will issue a Termination Voucher (TV) and refund your deposit amount as mentioned in the Subscription Voucher (SV). The customer is also required to surrender existing equipment (cylinder/s and regulator). The validity of TV is one year from the date of issue.

Step 2: Your existing Domestic Gas Consumer Card can be used at the new location after endorsement by the new distributor.

Step 3: For the reconnection, customers are required to pay the same deposit amount mentioned on the TV. Please collect the new Subscription Voucher and keep it safe.

Step 4: After registration, the distributor will issue a new LPG cylinder and pressure regulator upon the payment of the deposit amount.

Steps to transfer gas connection from one company to another:

The three gas agencies in India have the same procedure for transferring a gas connection. Here is the procedure to be followed:

Step 1: The first step is to gather all the gas agency details around the new place by accessing the detailed records of distributors on the gas company’s website.

Step 2: Submit a letter requesting a transfer to the existing gas distributor. Also, submit the gas regulator and the gas connection voucher along with the transfer letter.

Step 3: If you are transferring from one city to another, you will have to surrender your existing cylinder and safety regulator as well.

Step 4: You will then receive a refund of your deposited amount as mentioned in the Subscription Voucher.

Step 5: The existing gas distributor will provide you with a gas transfer voucher that is similar to the gas connection voucher.

Step 6: After you get address proof of your new place of residence, submit the address proof, identity proof, and the gas transfer voucher to the new gas agency.

Step 7: You will be required to pay a nominal fee as a transfer charge, which varies from agency to agency.

Step 8: After submitting all the necessary documents, the new gas agency will confirm your transfer, and you will be issued with a new gas connection voucher with your current address mentioned.

Step 9: Finally, you will be able to book a cylinder, which will be delivered to your new place of residence in a few days.
